Two Children Confirmed Dead In Jersey City After First Responders Desperately Try To Save Their Lives
Jersey City, NJ – Two children — 8 months old and 11 years old died last night as flames ripped through a Jersey City home, according to the Hudson County Sheriff in a statement.
The two children were killed in a blaze of smoke that began on Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to authorities two adults managed to escape from the home to neighbors with cries for help. The yelling in the streets were interpreted as screaming of their children were inside of a burning home, according to ABC 7.
Apparently, the police and first responders could not make it on time due to the blockage of flames. According to the reports, the two children (victims) were on the second floor of the home blocked by heavy smoke. Several first responders were injured trying to save the children but it was too late, the children were pronounced dead once found. The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is now investigating the cause of the fire after the parents were treated for smoke inhalation.
