July 18, 2015 was embraced as a day of remembrance after a one year lost by the Garner Family of “Eric Garner,” a Staten Island man lost his life from an unrecommended choke hold. Although the Garner Family was awarded a $5.9 Million dollars for a lawsuit against the City of New York, justice has still not been met for the Officer who committed murder. According to the Courthouse News Service, Orta had been standing near the Staten Island ferry terminal in July 2014 when he saw police confront his friend Garner. The video Orta shot of what were Garner’s final moments went viral, fueling the wave of protest against police violence.
The question here is, “What happened to cause such racial disorder?” And, “Why was Orta pointed out as the criminal during the video caption before Emergency Medical Service was called upon?”
